New Orleans with Scout's Family & Friends

We spent our weekend in New Orleans, mostly to visit Scout's family.  Helo joined us for his first long distance adventure, and accompanied us nearly everywhere we went.  He's a very well behaved bird!

We stayed with Kim the sailor, and he gave us a small tour of some places we hadn't seen in New Orleans on Sunday.  We stopped by to see a bunch of people, and managed to get pictures with most of them! (Click read more below for more pictures)

Splatterbeat

Every year, LSU puts on a night event called Splatterbeat.  Basically the premise is big field + loud music + paint on top of trash cans used as drums = fun.  Here's the result!

Tunica Falls 2011

We recently visited Tunica Falls, only about 45 minutes from Baton Rouge.  We were amazed at how beautiful this little piece of Louisiana was!

Complete with (small) waterfalls, some decent hiking, and great scenery, this was as if a small piece of the Smoky Mountains had found its way down to Louisiana.  Lots of pictures!

Scout Short Mountain Sanctuary Trip

Scout went to go check out a place called Short Mountain Sanctuary for us with a friend from New Orleans.  He met some cool people including Kim the Sailor who has been a great friend!  :)  Here's some pictures.
